2 days of fast action combined with FAT FISH was the play of the weekend at Chaumont Bay. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen that many fish weighing over 5 pounds being brought in to the scales at a tournament in a very long time. Chaumont was freakishly heavy on big fish! The largest fish weghed in for both days was a 5.58 smallmouth by team Ventura / Giamei. LOTS of 4.5-5lb fish. The weights prove it. Desantis / Osterhout brought in 23.50 Saturday, and 22.38 on Sunday, combined total of 45.88 lbs for 1ST PLACE! According to them, most, if not all of their fish were caught within Chaumont Bay itself. Ventura / Giamei brought in 22.43 on Saturday, and 19.05 on Sunday, weekend total of 41.48 for 2ND PLACE! And 3RD PLACE went to Capp / Rossen, Saturday's weight was 19.60, adding to Sundays total of 19.42 giving them 39.02 lbs. The lures for the weekend was mainly anything green pumpkin- Jigs, tubes, senkos.  Not green pumpkin/black flake, gold flake- nope.  Green pumpkin. Go figure- Unless you were team McFadden / Skrivan, then Green Pumpkin Magic was the color of choice in Senkos. When the spinnerbait bite was on, chartruese/white was the color of choice. You couldn't have asked for better weather than we had for this past weekend. Chaumont Bay (and the surrounding area) seems to be a definite hotspot in Upstate New York. It was well worth the drive for most of our anglers. If you haven't fished Chaumont, you owe it to yourself to give fall fishing a try and mark it off your bucket list of lakes to fish. You won't be dissapointed.
