    Tournament Rules



1. The club body predetermines tournament dates, times and locations before the first of the year.

2. Each tournament will have a fee of $30 for members ($60 a boat) and $35 for non-members  ($70 a boat). The $5 non-member entry fee collected will go to the club to offset expenses; the remaining $30 per non-member entry fee will be put into the prize pot.

3. $5 per boat will be taken off the top of the monies collected and set aside for a year-end “KTBA CLASSIC” tournament.

4. The tournament winnings are broken down in a 50/30/20 format if there are 9 or more boats. 60/40 if there are between 5 and 8 boats. 100% to first place if there are less than 5 boats.

5. A single angler who wishes to fish any of the tournaments will have the option to pay only half the per boat entry fee but will then only be eligible for half of the winnings for the positions he/she finishes in. The other half will go to the club treasury.

6. There must be at least 4 anglers present to hold a tournament.

7. Place of finish is determined by weight of each teams catch.

8. In order to change the dates, times, or locations of a tournament, the change needs to be done 30 days before the tournaments date by the board of officers. In order to cancel a tournament, there must be less than 4 people present to fish the tournament, or the officers present can cancel a tournament due to bad weather or unsafe conditions at that time.

9. Each boat must have a working aerated and/or re-circulating live well, or a cooler rigged to act like one, to participate in our tournaments.

10. All boats’ live wells will be open and dry at the beginning of each tournament.

11. There will be no more than two persons per boat.

12. All contestants will have paid their entry and ramp fees prior to start of the tournament.

13. All contestants must have on file a signed and completed waiver form before being allowed to fish.

14. All boats must be back for the weigh in on time or penalties apply (see Weigh-In rules).

15. No boat will come within 100 feet of another boat if both parties are fishing, without permission.

16. No boat will come within 50 feet of another boat if only one party is fishing, without permission.

17. No live bait can be used during bass tournaments.

18. No alcohol or drugs are allowed.

19. Nets are permitted.

20. If leaving the tournament early please leave a note on a club member’s windshield or check in with another competitor so that we know you are accounted for.


Additional Non-Member Rules

1. Non-members will pay a $35 tournament fee, $5 of which goes to the club for expenses.

2. All non-members must sign and return a completed waiver protection form before being allowed to fish.

3. Membership forms received the day of a tournament will be accepted but active status will not be bestowed until after that tournament. Non- members entry fee of $35 must be paid.

Two Day Tournaments

1. All rules apply the same as one-day tournaments.

2. All weights for each person will be totaled up at the end of the second day.

3. All fish caught on the first day must be released after weigh in.

Classic Rules

1. Membership is MANDATORY to compete in “KTBA Classic”.

2. Standard tournament fees applied.

3. Option to buy in to compete (see rule #5).

4. 3 tournaments fished as a member to qualify.

5. If competitor wishes to buy in to compete, he/she must pay all standard fees to equal 3 tournaments fished.

6. Mandatory cut off date for club membership by 4th tournament.

7. Membership dues are non-refundable.

Weigh-In Rules

1. To weigh in any fish, you must have paid your tournament entry fee at the start of the tournament day.

2. To weigh in any fish, the fish must meet the state or local minimum requirements for that species. Any fish brought in under this size requirement shall not be weighed in and will result in disqualification from the tournament.

3. It is up to each person to make sure they have the same time as the timekeeper. A .50 lb. penalty is removed from your weight for that day per minute late. Total loss for the day if you are 15 minutes late or later. The board must approve any exceptions.

4. A .20 lb. penalty will be deducted from your total weight for each dead fish weighed in.

5. A .50 lb penalty will be deducted from your total weight for bringing fish to the scales in a weigh bag without water in it.

6. If you bring more that a legal limit of fish to the scales the following penalty will be imposed: Starting with largest fish the angler has caught and proceeding downward the fish shall be released until a legal limit is reached and then they will be weighed.

7. Only one member from each team will bring the fish to the scales. Once that angler and weigh master agrees upon the weight the weight becomes final. Once the angler leaves the scales there will be no disputes allowed.

8. Weights will be read at the next general meeting following that given tournament and entered into the minutes at the meeting.

Ties

1. 1st place, if two teams are tied in weight for 1st place, then 1st and 2nd place monies are combined and divided evenly.

2. If there are three or more teams tied in weight for 1st place, then 1st and 2nd place monies are added together and divided evenly.

3. If two or more teams are tied in weight for 2nd place, then 2nd place and 3rd place monies are divided evenly.

4. If only one place is filled, then all the money in the day’s pot goes to that place.

Prizes & Awards

1. All prizes will be awarded after weigh in or no later than the next general meeting following a given tournament.

2. The number of people fishing in any given tournament will determine the size of the cash prizes and number of places to pay.

a. If there are 4 or fewer boats in a tournament, then 1st place is the only prize to be paid out.

b. If there are 5-8 boats, the 1st and 2nd place will be paid out.

c. If there are 9 boats or more, then 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be paid out.

3. If there are no fish to be weighed at the end of a tournament, then monies collected will be deposited into the club’s bank account (There is no roll over to another tournament).

4. Consolation prizes will be awarded by raffle whether or not there are fish to be weighed.

Safety Rules

1. SAFETY FIRST!
2. Captain’s rules and orders stand on the boat at all times.
3. The captain of the boat is responsible for everyone on board.
4. All boats will meet U.S. Coast Guard Rules for the boat.
5. No one leaves the tournament site until all boats and people are loaded and accounted for.
6. No wake within 50 feet of a standing boat.
7. There shall be one correct size life vest for each person on board.
8. Life vest(s) shall be worn at all times the main combustion engine is running. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification from the tournament.


KTBA reserves the right to change any of the above rules at any time. The current rules will always be available at the launch site before each tournament.
